Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) seeks an innovative and creative National Vice President of Philanthropy (the NVPP) to build their major, principal, planned giving, foundation, and membership programs. In addition, the successful candidate will work with a consultant to enhance MDA’s foundation function.  The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader and create strategic protocols and implement moves management.  S/he will monitor the progress on the department’s goals, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects.

 

Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the EVP, Chief Impact & Philanthropy Officer, the NVPP will provide strategic leadership to effectively increase MDA’s individual giving revenue and expand its donor constituencies.  To that end, the NVPP will build a team and oversee the fundraising functions (e.g., major, principal, planned giving, and membership programs).  The NVPP will build and manage a portfolio of top individual prospects. Furthermore, s/he will proactively guide efforts to identify new prospects to grow and further diversify the organization’s revenue sources.  This NVPP will direct national efforts that includes donor and funder prospecting and research, solicitation, stewardship, and foundation grant-seeking and support. In consultation with the EVP, the NVPP will design and implement a three-year strategic plan to increase fund development.

 

The ideal candidate for this role will be an authentic, creative, innovative, and proven fundraising leader.  S/he will bring effective management acumen and demonstrated fundraising success, ideally within a national medical organization or a complex environment during a period of rapid growth or change. The NVPP will have a comprehensive, highly collaborative, and quantitative, results-driven approach to growing philanthropic revenue and expanding a constituency base. Excellent communication, writing, and listening skills – as well as intellectual curiosity and unquestioned integrity – are requisite.
