Job Description: 

World Monuments Fund (WMF) is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Senior Manager of Institutional Giving to contribute to our global, creative, and inclusive organization and office environment.

 

This individual will be responsible for building and stewarding the organization’s foundation, corporate, and government portfolios. Responsibilities include prospect research, writing and submitting proposals, grant reporting, and timely gift acknowledgements and other correspondence for both new and existing funders. The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving reports to the Vice President for External Affairs and works closely with the President and EVP/Chief Operating Officer on government grants and reporting. 

 

Major areas of responsibility and related tasks include:

  • In partnership with the VP for External Affairs, develop and implement a fundraising strategy to increase giving from foundations, corporate, and government agencies
  • Proactively research, build, and cultivate pipelines of prospective funders, matching their interests with the mission and strategic vision of WMF to support our highest priorities
  • Steward existing institutional funders and create meaningful ways to engage with the work of WMF
  • Act as the point person/relationship owner for foundation and corporate program officers
  • Write and oversee the submission of compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, funder presentations, and other fundraising materials, including budgeting and financial reporting
  • Work collaboratively with WMF staff to gather information and materials for proposals, funder updates, and grant reporting
  • Prepare research and other materials for senior leadership in preparation for donor/prospect meetings
  • Manage institutional giving calendar, including oversight of reporting schedule, grant compliance, and deliverables
  • Maintain centralized and current file of key organizational data
  • Use NGOC database to track report deadlines and monitor stewardship activities
  • Communicate updates to senior staff on a regular basis
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree; Major in English, Art History, or Architecture preferred  
  • 7+ years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, and prospect research

 

SKILLS

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with staff at all organizational levels
  • Experience in researching and preparing successful proposals for foundations and government funders
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to compile, report, and analyze information succinctly
  • Results-oriented
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.  General database knowledge required, familiarity with NGOC a plus
