Development Director – part time PELHAM ART CENTER Pelham Art Center was founded in 1969 and is a non-profit multi-arts organization whose mission is to give area residents and visitors a place and the opportunity to see, study and experience the arts in a community setting. Located in southern Westchester County, more than 16,000 people are served by free and affordable education and public programs that include: classes and workshops, free exhibitions and public programs, outreach, and special events. The Center owns and occupies a 5,500 s.f. facility in downtown Pelham, NY, has 2 full and 4 part-time staff, three dozen artist contractors, volunteers and an active Board of Directors. The Art Center’s friendly, collaborative and casual atmosphere is reinforced by the excellent relationships among staff, a supportive Board, and a longstanding affection from the community. Core responsibilities for a staff part-time professional Director of Development: •Create a Development strategy for each revenue source, setting goals and execution methods. • Identify and develop new strategic partnerships and opportunities with major donors and partners; report monthly on progress •Create and/or grow major gifts, planned giving, membership, annual fund, foundation and corporate donations • Prospect, cultivate and solicit new individual donors, corporations, and foundations • Event planning Candidate will report to and work closely with ED. S/he will confer often with Board members, especially the Board Development and Fundraiser Committees. Requirements: • Min. 5 years experience working in fundraising. • Exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated success in developing and maintaining donor relationships • Team player with demonstrated success working with colleagues from various areas of expertise and backgrounds • Proven track record of closing major financial commitments • Excellent planning, organizational, reporting, administrative and budget management skills • Comfortable in a mission based, creative, resource-limited environment • Occasional work on weekends and evenings as needed • Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external audiences • Experience working with diverse cultures and communities • Positive attitude, high level of energy, good sense of humor • Ability to work well with subordinates, peers and ED and Board • Knowledge of non-profit fundraising best practices • Outstanding English language communication skills, written and spoken • Database skills • Bachelor’s degree• Valid driver’s license and access to car.
