PNP Staffing Group has been retained by The Korean-American Family Service Center, Inc. (KAFSC) in their search for a new Executive Director.  KAFSC is a leading nonprofit organization assisting women, children, and families in the New York tri-state area to recognize and eliminate relationship violence and abuse.  They provide in-depth and varied counseling, education, advocacy and support services to help individuals empower themselves to build safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect and dignity.

 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will leadthe organization’s growth by substantially expanding the fundraising base to include foundations, corporations and significant individual donors in the tri-state area and nationally in recognition of their 30th year of service. In addition, the ED will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for KAFSC’s staff, programs, expansion, and mission execution. The major responsibility of the Executive Director will be to position the organization for the future utilizing a strong and successful fundraising background.

 

Responsibilities

Fundraising & Communications:

  • Work with the Board to develop and implement a long-range fundraising plan to significantly enhance a stronger, sustainable base of support among foundations, corporations, local and state governments and individuals. 
  • Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and KAFSC expansion while simultaneously leading and overseeing a capital campaign project as well as other significant development efforts including legacy giving and the annual gala
  •  In collaboration with staff and the Board, develop and implement a plan to advance and strengthen KAFSC’s brand.  The plan will incorporate a means for establishing and maintaining relationships with philanthropic and corporate funders, community, government and business leaders and media representatives to expand their knowledge of work.
  • Deepen and refine its web presence and external relations representing the organization at community events, civic associations and professional groups – all aimed to garner new opportunities to promote KAFSC and its services

Leadership & Management:

  • Maintain and support a strong board of directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for operations and program excellence
  • Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders
  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals
  • Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain KAFSC’s high-performance senior management team

Strategic Planning

  • Design and complete strategic business planning process
  • Build partnerships, establish relationships with funders and elected officials and community leaders at both New York and New Jersey locations
  • Be the KAFSC spokesperson who communicates program results with an emphasis on the success of program to garner and obtain other sources of funding

Qualifications:

  • The ED will be thoroughly committed to KAFSC’s mission and must be fluent in spoken and written Korean
  • A minimum of seven years of senior management experience with demonstrable success in philanthropic giving programs
  • Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree would be ideal; track record of effectively leading and scaling performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage budget to expenses
  • Commitment to creating a collaborative, transparent, ethical and supportive work environment
  • Success working with a diverse board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and public speaking experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
