AFP NYC offers a variety of valuable member benefits to help you further your fundraising career.
Mentoring with AFP GNY
The Greater New York Chapter Mentoring Program allows AFP members to learn from each other while discussing professional issues and concerns. Mentoring can benefit people at all levels of experience, including those who want to transition into fundraising from another field or who are just entering the profession. Mentoring can also assist those who want to advance in their careers, need guidance on a particular project, or are facing challenges with a supervisor or employee (or others).
To facilitate a mutually productive experience, we ask Mentors and Mentees to make a defined time commitment; both must be available for an agreed-upon period. Our goal is to encourage an ongoing dialogue and not a one-time meeting. We suggest having three one-hour mentoring sessions over a three-month period. However, these logistics can be negotiated between the Mentor and Mentee.

Do you feel your experience might benefit someone else? If you are a senior-level or mid-career development professional (with six or more years of experience) and you would like to mentor someone newer to the field, register to become a Mentor today.
We are also interested in hearing about your experiences in the program and will email both Mentors and Mentees twice annually. We ask that you please take some time to respond to the questions. We hope to continually improve the Mentoring Program and your feedback is critical.
